King's Canyon Falls

Oh my goodness. Tonight I thought I'd take a quick jaunt up to a waterfall I had been told about.

First sighting. I thought this was all it was going to be.

Then suddenly just up the trail and over a few more rocks; there it was so beautiful and not even 5 minutes from where I live.

Man, this place just get's better and better every day.

Eagle Lake hike

GAS:

HWY ROBBERY

PICNIC DAY USE FEE :

INCLUDING DINING COMPANION, $5.00

Having a place like this 20 minutes from home :

PRICELESS

Ok the drive to the parking lot was only 20 minutes but the hike up the mountain to the lake took about 45 minutes.... it was up and UP

and UP and UP

With great views looking back down the mountain I even found Piglette's house deep in the 100 acre woods

All in all it was a wonderful hike and a beautiful lake. Oh, I almost forgot the beautiful waterfall.

It was all just so beautiful.

California fires and our Sunsets

I know the fires in California are horrible and we have been getting choked with the smoke but it has made for some amazing sunsets. I have never seen the sun blod red (even though the pictures make it look pink.) It was as red and glowing as a brake light. Lots of people were stopped taking pictures.

PONY EXPRESS

OK y'all here are the photos from the pony express ride. What a great experience that was !!! Even the bucking part. Seems Ol Bart didn't like where the mail bags hit him and everytime I would spur him to run he would kick up his back legs. Dawn was riding my shadow and at one point she asked if I wanted to know how high he just kicked. I said "NO!!, You can tell me later." Well pictures don't lie and if you watch the video you will see his back legs go over Dawn's head. But the mail must thru, so I ended up changing horses and did my part to get the mail delivered.

We camped for 3 days outside AUSTIN, NV ( I know, I had never heard of it before either) It's somewhere along Hwy 50... You know, the loneliest road in Nevada. Yup, it's true, somewhere out there we rode our portion of the old pony express trail.

We had 17 horses at Camp and 11 riders for our portion of the trail.

Not all the horses were excited about sharing a moment in history.

Well here's what y'all have been waiting for.......

Grandma's famous Pony Express Ride

Whew, Somehow we got the mail thru without incident of Indian attack or lost rider. Then we settled down to some great campfire cooking and as the sun set the ol cowboys got our their geetars.....

We road fast and furious, in a way that I think would make the original riders proud

And in the end we were all pretty dog tired.

For Logan

I have several great picutres of Logan on his Daddy's firetruck so here is one for him. The other day at work an airconditioner filled the bathroom with smoke so Carson City's finest fire fighters came to our rescue. So here you go Logan a picture of Grandma and a fire truck.

One of my greatest joys since moving to Carson City, has been the amount of time I spend on the back of a horse. I love to ride out and find the wild horses. If I keep this up I am gonna need a better camera. At the very least I need to get a good editing program so I can zoom in on some of these beauties.

Look at me I'm a blogologist!!!

Meet the neighbors

Well here I am, finally, I moved to Carson City. I love it up here, everything is so green and the air is clear and smells so good. I live in the foothills of west Carson City in what is called Kings Canyon. There are a lot of hiking trails all around and I love to go hiking. The imigrant trail is just down the road and I have hiked on it several times. My goal by the end of the summer is to hike all the way to Lake Tahoe. It's only 12 miles up and over the mountain behind my house.

I moved her last winter and the very first thing I did was to slip on the ice and break my wrist. But that didn't stop me from enjoying the beautiful winter landscape. Even though I've had my Durango for 5 years, I just learned how to use the 4 wheel drive.

More to come.....
